Enough power?

The charging system seems to be the weak link in this fine machine. A GS has a 600 watt charger and this machine has a 145 watt at 5000 rpm, as I hear. Is there a way to upgrade the system to allow a higher output system to allow for all of the electric farkles I want such as electric clothing, grips, seat, gps, radio, audio com, cb radio, cruis control maybe more lighting, etc.

this is not enough reason to layout huge sum$ to get a GS, but is there a way to "get more power, shes given you all shes got Capn and shes gonna blow!"

IF this is covered by another thread, please advise.

The 650 puts out 375W in all model years and the 1000 puts out 400W since 2003 if I recall the year correctly. There was an outfit working on offering rewound alternator coils but there have been no reports of when they will be available. The Stroms therefore have about 100-125W excess capacity at 5k rpm and above. Some riders add a switch to one headlight to make an extra 55W available during daylight hours.

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. I didn't quite make it to 17,000 miles on the 2012 DL650A.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 DL1000s. Vee2=2014-2016 DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 DL650s. Glee = 2012-2016 DL650s
