'04 windshield, is it working?

Glad to join this site and see how collectivity helps to solve the worst of headaches like that #$%& buffeting.

It took me a while to read all your previous topics about windshields and there are two things I didn't find.

1. Did someone trie that Windstrom shield talked about in http://vstrom.info/fom-serve/cache/1.html

2. Is the '04 oem shield better

3. Does the '04 shield can fit in anyway on the '03.

Has anyone wrote to Suzuki to see if they have any plan to solve the mistake they have made. Like a recall or TSB (technical service bulletin). I think if we all go together on something like this, they would have to do something.

Sorry for the rough entry, I'm just back from a ride and still pissed...

I have an 04 DL650. I did NOT think the shield worked well even in the tope of 3 positions. I did not even try the "fourth" position.

I used a modified GL1100 windshield and ended up about 4 inches over stock in height and width.

Better but still no cigar. Needs another 2-3 inches in height.

Note that this is for ME. 5' 8", open helmet unless bad weather. Like to smoke, eat, drink and breath while riding.

Most noticably bad is that cross winds destroy the bubble of quiet.

This windshield thing drives me crazy! I am 6'2", but mostly leg, so probably equivalent to 5'10". I have tried the laminar lip, some improvement, laminar lip with ears, more improvement and finally the Cee Baily 22. All some improvement in the noise area, but the buffetting continues.

Saturday, I put the stock shield back on, couldn't remember where I had stuffed the Laminar Lip, but did find the "ears", so I put them back on. Went for a ride. Whoaaaaa baby, whats this? No buffeting! Clean air for a change.

Couldn't believe it so Sunday I did a 300 miler. The most enjoyable ride in 5K I have had on this beast. Apparently the ears keep the air from collapsing back in and buffeting the lower part of the helmet, and without the Laminar Lip, the air is hitting me just at the low part of the helmet, but clean. Go figure.

You might try this, as everyone is different when it comes to shields, but with the hot weather on it's way her in New Mexico, I think I am on to something.

I'm counting on Givi or Rifle to bring out a taller wider shield that works.

I've had good luck with thier products in the past.

I have the both a standard Cee Baileys and the Windstorm shield. I got the Windstrom from Eric last year during the Strom gathering at TWO. I have not taken it off since. I know the thing looks wierd and there are some issues with it contacting the paint but I like the way it works. it is a big improvement over the standard CB and a hugh improvement of the stock shield. I also tried a ZG Double Bubble and sent it back.
