GoldWing Footpeg Mod

I was looking for a wider footpeg, but not a cleated dirtbike peg, found a couple options, Vulcan footpegs (nice, kinda trick) and Goldwing pegs, if I was going to buy them new, I woulda got the Vulcan pegs, but I got the Wing pegs free

installation was easy, the onlly mod was for the spring, the stock spring won't work, it isn't the right shape for the wing pegs, the spring from the wing peg is what you need to use, it need a 1/16"dia x 3/16" deep spring pocket drilled in the peg mount

after that, its easy

right side

left side...notice the grease fitting on the shifter, while I was down there, I've been wanting to install a grease fitting on the shifter, finally did it

I like the feel of the larger pegs, more comfortable to stand up on
I may have to lengthen the shifter though, somehting I did on my SV650, and have thought of on the Vee but it wasn't quite necessary for my big clodhopper feet, now with these pegs, I think I need to, my shifter extension mod was something I had a local fabrication shop do, cut stock shifter in half, add 1" aluminum stock and weld it all back together

i like how you used used pegs. they don't detract from the "patina" on the brackets. Hey!! See if you can figure out what floor boards will work on the rear.

Somtimes it sucks not being in the loop. HUH??

I even cleaned the shifter when I had it off, the grease fitting is an experiment, I'm due for a new shifter, the rubber at the toe is cone shaped, linkage is getting sloppy too. 53k

with the big 1550 caribou cases, I barely have room for stock pegs for a pillon

What a great idea, are those GL-1500 or 1800 pegs?

Mine looks like yours. I have the rubber replacement and have the feeling it isn't going to be that easy to put in place.

I would not bother with the shifter rubber unless it is split. I replaced mine last March and it already looks like the old one. The rubber wears down to the size of the metal end in a hurry.

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. I didn't quite make it to 17,000 miles on the 2012 DL650A.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 DL1000s. Vee2=2014-2016 DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 DL650s. Glee = 2012-2016 DL650s

Those pegs look identical to the ones on my valkyrie, which are very comfortable. Thanks for the write up.
