Highway Dirt Bike products

Has anyone used the HDB handlebar clamp/handguard protector combo on the V-Strom? Looks like their Kawasaki/Suzuki 96mm/33-35mm top clamp pattern is the one that would fit. I've seen their stuff mounted on a couple of Huskies -- very, very nice setup. And their handguards have integrated LED blinkers

Just wanted to bump this up. I love the way these handguards look on F800's and they're definitely built to take a pounding.

Curious if anyone has fitted them on a Strom or if anyone has seen a pair on person on somebody else's bike?

HDB handguards

Can't answer your question about practical experience with the product, but the OP has a set on his Strom and has also been helping me get a set going for my bike as well. The top clamp bolt pattern from the drop down menu on the order form page is 100x38/40. I really, really, really want to add these to my Vee, a 10 mph low side in the sand last fall busted up a mirror and handguard and I really think these would be such a great addition - I am simply having trouble getting my mind around the $230 price tag... one-off quality like these are not cheap, a Colorado man out of labor of love developed these and brought them to market (a very small niche market at that) and all those expenses are not cheap. So yea, bump this thread back up to the top and see if anyone will post pictures of these installed on a Strom. From experience I can tell you if you email Paul (the owner of HDB), he can be a little tough to get ahold, but be patient and he will respond to all your questions.

Right on, thanks for the info.

Looks like the OP is in my area so I might have to check his out first hand one of these days

Sorry- no first hand experience, but I've been looking into getting these for my WR, and there's a group buy on ADVrider that was originally started for his powerlet top clamp only for 20% off, which has now been extended to 15% off anything else Paul makes.

This group buy started for the top clamp, one size only 100 x38/40mm, which from the other posts above looks like it would work for the wee.

Here's a link if anyone is interested- Highway Dirtbike (HDB) Powerlet Top Clamp Group Buy - ADVrider

Yep. It's true. We can get this on the V-Strom Very solid stuff, and I'm very happy with it. I also have an HDB setup on my Husqvarna.

Since I wanted to go to 1 1/8" bars while doing the upgrade, Paul made risers for me that handled that transition. The top clamp for the risers takes the 100x38/40 pattern. I've seen on ADVrider that the Roxx pivot risers apparently also take a 100x38/40 pattern, so that may be another option, but I have not verified it. I also did not look at what it would take to mount up 7/8" bars to the stock lower clamps and use an HDB top clamp.

Wow, I think I'll end up missing out on this GB...I won't even have my bike by the 31st. But it's good to know the owner of HDB and his products have such a good reputation. I wonder if he'll ever put together a full V-strom kit?

Nice! I couldn't bother you for some pics of the HDB's on your bike could I?

How did the thicker bars work with everything from the 7/8" bar being remounted on them? Or could you even remount the 7/8"s stuff?

I'll try and get some pics of this tomorrow.

As for mounting everything, the 1 1/8" bars are tapered at the ends to 7/8", so I was able to move everything over.

Finally, it is unclear if Paul will ever put a V-Strom kit together. I just pinged him, and he tells me I've been his only V-Strom customer, so we're not a big selling item for him. It is now up to you, grasshopper...

Oh wow, only one Vstrom customer? Kinda surprising. I know these handguards are "overkill" for mostly on-road stroms...but I know strommers typically want the best and from what I can tell these are the best handguards around.

I'm gonna experiment with some different bars then when I find a set I like I definitely wanna get some HDB's.

Thanks for the info(and hopefully pics!)
