Audiovox Cruise Control Problems

Is it normal for the cruise control, when activated, to cause the gas to come on and off, on and off while on flats? The bike accelerates to the set speed then falls back to 1-3 mph below and then hits the gas back on again to resume the set speed. Make sense? On and off fuel. I don't understand why it doesn't just hold the speed with a steady gas and just increase or decrease the fuel being doled out as needed to maintain the speed. You hear the drone of the motor and then lose that sound for a few seconds while the bike coasts with no fuel being delivered, only to have it reapplied to bring the bike back up to speed. Maybe that's how it's supposed to work, but I can maintain speed better with my hand without the on and off drone of gas. Perhaps I don't have the cc installed correctly. It seems to work correctly, though, when the bike is going up a hill. Then it's a steady throttle and no slowing down and speeding up over and over. The problem I'm having is with the bike on a flat or going down hill. There is very little slack in the line connecting to the throttle linkage and there is no binding or obstructions to the cable. What else could case this to happen? I'm on the road now on a 6 week trip and am looking for an easy fix. I called Audiovox today and the man I talked with in tech support was NO HELP. He was mostly silent with no offered advice. He said that this unit is not made to work on a motorcycle. Maybe that's why he didn't want to talk. Because he thought I'd used their product for the wrong purpose. Thanks for the replies in advance! Link to this also found in General Discussion area

I don't have an Audiovox Cruise control setup, but am thinking about getting one. Anyway, I thought that this was because the vaccum tube was too small. I've read about others enlarging or making their own vaccum tube to increase the vaccum, which in turns steadies the speed (you don't get that initial drop in speed when turning it on).

Wish You Were Here...

Audiovox Cruise Control Problems

I'm not talking about an initial drop in speed when turning the unit on. That was fixed by shortening the chain between the cc actuator cable and the throttle linkage. What I'm talking about is a continual drop in speed and return to set speed after the unit has been activated.
