Metzeler Z6 Strom report??

The Strom will be due for a rear tire in VT and Stromette is making plans now to be at the Metzeler truck at the BMW rally. I'm told they will have the Z6 available for me so I'm super tempted to slap a set on. They are my FAVORITE tire for all my bikes (though I like an M1 front and Z6 combo but that's another story) and I was sad they were not available for the Strom when I purchased the bike in late Nov 05. Apparently Metzeler received my mojo prayer and the Z6 tire is now available. 8) If I was not going to be so far away from home base I'd not think twice about going w/the Z6 but being FULLY loaded and on the other side of the country I'm debating on whether this would be a smart move to test these tires. Does anyone have a Z6 road report for the Strom? Should I just stick w/the familiar Tourances for now?

Please limit replies to Z6/Tourance issues rather than turning this into a tire discussion.

Thanks in advance,

Stromette

Stromette,

I can't speak for the Strom, so keep that in mind... BUT - the guys in my group all run the Z6's (Bandit 1200s and SV650) and they swear they will never go back to another tire. The rear tire gets about 4-8k (4-6k on the Bandit, which my bud drives like he's never gonna get to ride again...) and 8-9k on the SV650. I have ridden both bikes and I hope that my 1k sticks like that with the Z6's on!

You really can't go wrong with that tire, IMO.. You already know it - you've said yourself you use it on your other bikes. I WILL be putting a set on mine as soon as I finish out my current rubber.

Try it out - you are the "mileage queen" so I would trust your opinion much more than most, when it comes to tires (well hell, almost all things Strom-related!!). As far as I know, nobody else has tried them yet, and I'm dying for a real-world report! I have yet to hear anyone, on any bike, say "I hated the Z6"

Good luck and safe travels,

mG

Stromette,

Okay, please excuse the question. Just call me curious.

I just got a DL1000K6 and am in love with the new beast in the garage. I love riding the bike. I've had it since June 13th and I'll have 1500 miles or more on it by Monday.

Why do you like the Sportec Z6 so much? Just wondering.

Since I will be needing tires before too long, I might give them a try. I've always liked Metzeler Tires. Might as well stick with something I like.

I'm interested in the Z6 too, sounds like a great sport-touring tire.

I don't need semi-knobbies like the Trail Wings....the only way I'm taking my Wee-Strom offroad is if I run wide in a corner.
