OEM Heated Grips Made Digital: Possible?

So I find myself with a dead set of OEM heated grips. (Not sure what the problem is - maybe a broken wire, maybe a dead controller.)

I also happen to have a spare Gerbing's digital temp controller.

I'm wondering if the digital controller will work with the OEM grips.

Anyone tried this or see any reason it wouldn't work?

It'd be nice to get rid of that unsightly and inefficient rheostat controller.

As far as I know all of the heaters are purely resistance heaters. Some of them have hi and lo settings and use two sets of 'wires' to provide the two settings, not sure about the Suzuki ones.

With an ohm meter you should be able to tell whether the heaters themselves are 'open'.

The Gerbings controllers simply turn current on and off with a varying duration. If the heaters are good the controller should work fine.
