Hyper-lites 2-way turn signals
I figured it was just a matter of time until I drop this bike and break the front signals (which did finally happen the other day). So I planned on switching to flushmounts, but I don't like how hard it is to see them from the front. On my 05, I spent a lot of time and effort hacking some LED blinkers into my mirrors. This time I got smart and bought the Hyper-lites 2-way signals.
I made little plates from some flat aluminum bar bar stock, which I screwed into the bottom edges of the mirrors to provide a flat surface to mount the lights. The plates are angled so the lights face directly forward (and back), instead of at the angle of the mirrors.
I just tapped into the existing signal wires, easy peasy lemon squeezy.

"I am enthusiastic over humanity's extraordinary and sometimes very timely ingenuities. If you are in a shipwreck and all the boats are gone, a piano top buoyant enough to keep you afloat that comes along makes a fortuitous life preserver. But this is not to say that the best way to design a life preserver is in the form of a piano top. I think we are clinging to a great many piano tops in accepting yesterday's fortuitous contrivings as constituting the only means for solving a given problem." - R. Buckminster Fuller
