Drilled out exhaust no more...

Ok, I gave it a year and I'm fed up with the noise from the exhaust. I not only removed the pea shooter but I had drilled a few holes around it to widen the opening as well.

Today when I went in for an inspection my mechanic said he could weld it back to old in a few minutes, go for it I said. Well it took a little longer than a few minutes but it's pretty much back to stock. He built it up with a few washers and some stainless welding wire.

Ahhhh....it's nice to be quiet again.

Now I'm ready for my Scala 2 rider to rider unit so my wife and I can converse while on the road.

Nice, I had my share of loud bikes during my life and it shows when the ol'lady says something to me. I kept my 650 stock and to tell you the truth, its nice to be able to talk and ride, and I think I see more wild life on the slower dirt road rides.

Ron,

You are sick, sick, sick.

Don't you know that as a motorcycle owner/operator is is your duty to be dissatisfied with your bike's stock exhaust's flatulent warbling drone.

With this attitude how will you ever evolve to the ultimate expression of motorcycling: the open-piped, single crankpin, air cooled v-twin revving mindlessly at residnetial stopsigns at mignight-thirty?

Get some help now before it's too late.

I have to agree with the noise issue. I bought pipes for my vtx last winter and rode the bike about 1500 miles before putting the stock pipes back on. I couldn't take the noise. My ears were bothering me to the point of not wanting to ride that bike anymore. A little noise over stock is kind of nice but I'm beginning to think the stealth mode is the way to go.

What really concerns me is....

you want to converse with your wife????

hey, just kiddin...somebody was bound to say it

Cheers!

ps: I have the Scala Q2 multiset, works great for bike to bike and rider to passenger. I do however, disable the VOX and go with the "tap" method.

It would be nice to talk via the Scala, rather than constantly staring into my mirrors looking for her to wave her arm or something

Nice thing about the Scala I should have mentioned, is it is duplex, so you can talk just like a phone. No need for one person to finish talking before you can, etc.

The FM (mono) is so-so in my opinion, it pairs nicely to my TomTom Rider2 and my Blackberry phone, and with the MP3 plug-in, I get stereo music. Person to person voice is excellent.

The built in battery seems to last all day and then some listening to music, and the place I purchased it from also included a 12V charger as well as the included 110V charger. I have a 12V cig lighter style plug under the seat for charging up my Q2, cell phone or to run a compressor, etc.

cheers!
