Bar swap and remounted original bar ends/hand guards

I just installed a new set of Pro Taper Contour fat bars. I was not ready to drop another $150 on Bark Buster Storms so I found an easy way to mount the original ones in the smaller diameter Pro Tapers.

I had read about drilling them out but it looked like it would take too much material away. I have so been cruising the hardware store looking at drywall and concrete anchor options.

So I looked in the parts bin and found a long nut and bolt and fuel hose. I just ran the bar end and spacer, then a bit of fuel hose and the new flared nut and jammed it into the end of the bars and it tightened right up.... I guess the friction of the hose held the nut in place. I probably should have added a washer but the nut was flared and holds really well.

Since a picture is worth a thousand words, see the 2 pics below.

Just tried your bar end swap on my new ProTapers and it worked spot on.
Thanks for taking the time to get those photos on there. Helped out a lot.

Actually some aftermarket hand guards come with a set up just like you came up with. For best results use locking flange nuts with the serrations one the bottom to bite into the hose.
