Question About Fuel Re-Mapping

I looked up the website for the Power Commander. I didn't realize that it was a product that went inline with the engine controller.

Is there any way to reprogram the engine controller itself (with different fuel values), or is that not possible? Is a separate piece of inline electronics the only option?

Thanks.

Yoshimura tuning box or a Teka tuning box. Many Dealers have the Yosh box...it takes about 10 min to add more fuel to the system.

Thanks

Thanks. When I read the description of the PC, I was surprised to learn that it goes inline. I'm new to this stuff, so I could think of several reasons why the manufacturer's engine controller might be hard to modify, by design.

Yosh box worked great on my DL650. Mapped +5 +5 +5 (low, mid, high) with a 1% increase in injector duration. Worked like a champ. I have never seen the need to spend money on a Power Commander when simply utilizing the onboard ECU will do the trick.

Pre-Wee:

1999 Suzuki TL1000R (yellow)
2003 Kawasaki Z1000
2001 Suzuki TL1000R (blue and white)
and on and on...

4 out of 5 people surveyed think the 5th guy is wrong.

Ditto. I used the Teka box on mine... +5 idle, [email protected]% throttle, [email protected]% throttle, stock the rest of the way up. Runs MUCH smoother than it used to, with plenty of power to roll on at lower RPMs.

Yosh box tuner
+2 idle
+5 low
+5 mid
mileage went from 50mpg to 35 mpg first tank, 2nd tank 45 mpg 2 up @70 on a longish ride (2 hrs each way). Next tank 37mpg...

Went back and had it tuned to:
+1 idle
+5 low
removed mid tuning to see if my fuel economy comes back. We'll see how it goes.

06 Wee with 3500 miles (bought new June 08)
