Video: Led Turn Signal Conversion & Modulator

After being rearended a few weeks ago, I decided to look into installing some additional lighting. Called up the good folks at Adventure Motostuff and inquired about using the Backoff brake light modulator in conjunction with the turn signal LED Conversion kit. They said it should function fine, so I just put them both in this weekend. Install took several hours so I could get it wired up nicely, but they function superbly. I highly recommend it.

Uploaded a demonstration video to Youtube if you're interested in seeing what it looks like.

Happy to give details on the install...

Way too cool. Now I have something else to add to my list of "gotta get" stuff.

Video

At least a few people have seen it. 66 views! My first video, too. It's a little goofy, yeah, but comments are welcome.

Check out the "rear light functions" video here: http://ljb7.com/videos.htm

Nice mod, btw.

I'm in the planning stages for something similar. I'm going with my own home-brew modulator and some 1W or maybe 3W LED's and some Superfluxes for running lights. I'll give it a shot on my other bike first before I convert the 'strom.

I got nothin' on that guy

Wow. That's pretty intense. Looks like he hooked up strobes from an ambulance. You could escort the President with that thing!

I'm sorry, I hate to be negative, but if I was following you and you had the turn signal on and the brakes, I wouldn't have a clue of what your intentions were. It seems extremely dangerous to me, unless I'm missing something.

When you hit the brakes, If I'm looking at one or the other directional lights, I would think you were turning in that direction. Very confusing to someone following you.

I have Signal Dynamic brake light modulators on ALL my motorcycles. I wouldn't ride without them. But not on the directional lights. I don't even like the runn'n lights set on "high" with a Kisan Signal Minder..........Too confusing to pinhead, cell phone flapping, cage drivers...:-)

I hope I'm not upsetting you, but I feel I need to respond..............Be safe my friend....

I'm with you, Roy. I wouldn't know what the rider's intentions were if I was following that light show.

Oops. Got moved to the Mods section. Guess I'll pay more attention to my subject matter next time!

Appreciate the comments. True that the lights look busy back there, but I was looking at it tonight and the amber color of the blinker is quite noticeable over the others at a distance. If it is too confusing, hopefully cagers will just back off. But, as always, one must be wary of what's going on in the rear view mirror.

Fixed

Decided to switch up one of the wiring connections to removed the modulations from the blinker brake light LEDs. Center light now modulates while having less schizo behavior when the turn signal is on. The turn signal now switches from solid red to solid amber when it flashes. Overall, the extra brightness of these two mods together is excellent.

Good deal! We weren't being critical, we just really like you and don't want anything to happen to ya! Sometimes a couple extra sets of eyes can see something we might miss ourselves.

Ride safe!
