Smile MadStad and New Helmet; vast improvement

I am returning to riding after 25 years away. Got a new DL650 a few weeks ago, just was able to take the class, get the license, etc.. Smart enough (I hope) to go easy and get my chops together. Got my license, took the bike on the hiway for the first time last week, was REALLY bugged about the wind and buffeting and all that I keep reading about. I was really worried that I had made a major stupid mistake buying this bike. I live in Oklahoma, which is always windy - it's just a matter of how windy, either a little or a lot.

So....

I returned the helmet I was using - too big, EXL brand, lousy padding etc..

Ordered an HJC helmet (not expensive) which arrived in time to ride today.

Also, after reading tons of posts here and elsewhere, went ahead and ordered the MadStad.

Put the new bracket on this morning, got my new HJC helmet which fits SO much better (right size finally, better padding, no "wings" sticking out to catch air, etc...) and went for a ride.

I am SO pleased. Rode about 40 miles on a two lane road, up to 65 mph, sometimes less, taking my time. SO much better, with the new helmet and MadStad.

Now I am excited again about my new bike. :-)

Also, I just took delivery on a Teknic mesh jacket that is the tits. Comfy in this really hot weather, fits great, loud yellow color for visibility and looks good with my Black Wee.

that's it! Maybe this will help some others - best -

I had the exact same experience. I installed a Mad to go with my Secdem shield and bought a new HJC CJ-Max Evolve helmet.

My ZOX is a fairly noisy lid, the HJC is much quieter, and a tad lighter.

Cheers!

K5Wee in Kanada (285,500 KM and still going strong)
