Givi bags and mounts on my DL650K5

I bought the E36NJ side bags and the E45NJ topcase will all Givi racks. I'm very pleased with the cases. The racks went together well with no problems. Not a bad investment for $600 for the everything.

Not really a reply to your bags... but I noticed you had a Z1000 also. I traded in my Z1k for the DL1000. The Z was a FUN bike but to small and not versital enough for me. If FUNDS were available - I would have gone iwth the KTM 950.... But the V-Strom admission price was more in my range. Love the V ... how you like the Z ?

I bought the Z1000 in October '03. I've loved it, but as you said, it's not as versatile as the DL. If I could only have one bike, it would probably be the Vstrom. However, I was fortunate to beable to keep both. Everytime I consider selling the Z1000, I quickly change my mind once I take it out for a ride.

I think I remember seeing you around riderforums.com I am "Racing Rice" over there.

I bought the bags from www.sporttour.com I did not have to pay shipping, but I did pay local taxes because I picked them up since they are a (some what) local shop.

The side bags are the E36NJ bags and the topcase is a E46NJ and of course you'll need the racks as well. If you want to order from them, calling the 1-866 number on their site is the faster and easiest way to do it.

Thanks for the info and pichers, Imag. I ordered pretty much the same setup today from those folks. Hopefully, they will be here before the weekend so I have something to work on.

I got the 36N side cases instead of the NJ at the recommendation of the fella on the phone. I am looking forward to getting them.

Did you get everything Gilk? The N's are actually better for Sidecases because they have strap and the NJ's do not. I thought about that after I bought them, but oh well. They still work okay. It took me alittle while for me to get my parts because my mounts got held up in customs. Hopefully yours came quicker then mine did. I did get to visit the shop and talk to them though. They are nice people.

The top case rack is back ordered but I have everything else. When I called, the guy recommended the N case for the sides and the NJ for the top - I went ahead and did that even though it was more expensive. Still, I am pleased with it all.

The wife wants me to replace the red stripe with blue, so I'll probably find some monocote and do that. We are planning to ride to Austin this weekend, so there is a chance the rack will come in, otherwise I'll just have the 2 side bags... Road test!

Two side bags are better then nothing. You can get a fair bit of stuff in there. My wife like having the topcase back there though because it gives her something to lean against. I was just going to order the sidecases, but she wanted the topcase so I bought all of them. Now I take the sidecases off when I don't need them and leave the topcase on for daily duty.

Have fun on the trip!

Sound like I ordered the bags for my 1000 just in time. I got the v46 tail box and E21 side cases. I have had mine about 1 month now and don't know how I ever did without them, even on my VFR. I will be putting them to teh test on about a 2000 mile trip in a couple of weeks. Planning to stop in Cinci just to visit Soport tour.
