07 abs here, with the Madstad. I started with a 20" MP Touring shield last summer. Was good, but I wanted a little better. I was looking at the website over the winter, and saw the Grand Touring. Called Paul at MP, and he told me about something new, the Grand Touring with a wing. He sent me some pictures, and it looked good. I sent him my Touring on a trade in, and He sent me the new Grand Touring with the wing.
I have experimented quite a bit with the wing and the madstad. I now generally ride with the wing all the way down and the madstad down about 4/5 and back about 4/5. I clearly see over the shield, have no buffeting whatsoever, and have a gentle, unobtrusive "woosh" air/wind noise. I can clearly here the motor at all speeds.
BTW - I am nearly identical to your size, a notch over 5' 10" with a 30" inseam. I have a 1000 seat with a pad and beads, so I sit higher (probably almost 2") than the stock 650 seat.
No problems lock to lock, but I rotated my mirrors to the rear a little. I probably experience a little more truck wash/wind gust effect with large footprint, but nothing problematic or un-nerving.
I just recently put my cut down stock shield on for a test on a short ride. Obviously much more airflow, and it was smooth, but just too noisy. Put the MP GT right back on. Doubt I'll take it off anytime soon.
I am very satisfied with my MP shield, and with dealing with Paul/MP.
Note - If you haven't bought the madstad yet, you need the one that accepts the MP shields.
