FI light comes on.

Slight problem and no I didn't do a search. Always ask the wrong question anyway. Lately whenever I start the Wee the FI light comes on. Restarting the bike seems to fix it. I know this has come up before but can't remember the solution for a permanent fix. Anybody remember ??

Do you mean it stays on while the bike is running and won't go away unless you shut the bike off and restart it?

Yup, that's what I meant to say. Bike doesn't run any different than it's usual good, well mannered self.

Garage
Check for a fault code by putting the bike in dealer mode. http://perljam.net/motorcycle/dl650/dealer-mode/ https://www.stromtrooper.com/forums/s...ead.php?t=4070
http://cdross.ca/V-Strom/Vtech.htm http://soconfused.wordpress.com/ The bike might seem to run okay but some component is probably running in default mode rather than optimum.

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. I didn't quite make it to 17,000 miles on the 2012 DL650A.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 DL1000s. Vee2=2014-2016 DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 DL650s. Glee = 2012-2016 DL650s

Thanks grEywolf. Will be looking under the hood very soon. Will let you know what I find. Although I think I know what it is. Will know if my suspicion is correct tomorrow.

Hmmm...
This sounds suspiciously like an attempt to avoid riding in the rain tomorrow.

Okay, I lifted the hood and peered inside. Found the dealer plug and played "What's My Code". C 28 is the STVA (secondary throttle valve actuator). What does this mean to the simple minded folks with no real knowledge and experience with FI on these bikes.
I am hoping this is just an issue of the actuator hanging up a little after no riding for a couple days and then freeing up after the bike is started/stopped a couple times when I first go for a ride. The FI light does not come back on after the initial sequence of start/stop/start and everythings seems to be working normal for the rest of the day whether or not I stop for a short time or just ride for a couple hours.
I now leave my Fate in the hands of those more experienced in these matters. Thanks in advance for all help and support.
