Question Staintune & Motech ?

I am new to forum , bought my 07 Wee last week and ordered the motech crash bars and skid plate. I would also like to add the staintune exhaust but wanted to know if anyone has this combo and if there are any fit/clearance issues? After one week andabout 700 miles I understand why this bike gets such positive reviews ....awesome bike!

Mr. Taz,

I have had a chance to see the Staintune exhaust on the 650 and was much impressed by what that rider had to say about increased mid-range power. I didn't install it, but he didn't mention any problems with this particular slip-on.

It is now on the short list of mods . . . on the top of that list being Race Tech springs, another mod you may want to consider for better handling in the twisties.

Can't for the life of me see why there would be a clearance issue with the skid plate. Everything is the same from the first joint back until it gets to the actual collector part and I think that is to far back to interfere with the skid plate.

It's more fun to ride a slow bike fast than to ride a fast bike slow.

I have an 07 and I dont think I can just buy a slip on from staintune, I believe it must be replaced all the way and would have to fit into the cutouts on the motech skid plate. If it takes the exact same route it should be no problem, but I have replaced some full systems on previous bikes and they ran a bit different route.

You can buy the slip on, but you have to buy the new collector from them as well. Total package from Staintune when I bought it was $700., but I was the first one in the US to buy one from them and the price might have come down since then. I have the 07 abs.

Thanks, with the baffles in is it much louder? I want to be able to do long rides without too much noise, but also want a deeper sound.

With the baffles in there is just a nice twin tone to it, it's not to bad with it out. I usually run it in all the time. Maybe some of the boys that followed me at Brendan's house in the fall will chime in on how it sounded.

I have a Staintune on my 650 it fits on easy just remove original muffler and fit new one, it sounds great without baffle it does not seem to attract the police, I have just covered 1600klm last week with the sound having no effect other than frightening kangaroos & sheep on the road my ride involved passing the Staintune factory on a cold & frosty morning
