Seats: What's your favorite?

I recently bought a 650 and I was wondering if anyone out there had any opinions about different seats. I was considering getting the tall touring seat but am a little hesitant about putting down $200 for a seat I've heard nothing about. Any coments anyone?

since buying a suzuki gel seat from another list member, i never notice my seat any more. i think that's the best compliment you can pay a seat.

I replaced my stock seat with a gel seat about three years ago....Last year on my way back from the StromFestWest in Reno I did a "Ride In" at Corbin. WOW what a difference when the seat is tailored to my ergonomically incorrect backside. The Gel seat was good. . .for about 350 miles before I needed some relief. The Kustom Corbin is a ride all day seat. Worth the money imho if you do any long rides!

Forget about the tall touring seat for the 650. It is a stock DL1000 seat. See if you can trade seats with a 1000 rider who wants a lower seat or at least pick up a used one from a 1000 rider who bought an aftermarket seat. A gel seat is possibility too.

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. I didn't quite make it to 17,000 miles on the 2012 DL650A.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 DL1000s. Vee2=2014-2016 DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 DL650s. Glee = 2012-2016 DL650s

My Corbin is much better than stock but stock isn't the worst seat believe me.I would give the stock a shot maybe 3k and then shop. The Corbin puts me up on my tippy toes until it gets a nose job.

Give stock a chance then start spending money till yur butt stops hurting.

Seats are very much individual preference, what's great for one person may be horrible for another.
That said, my take is:
Stock 650 seat; not awful, but not good either
Stock 1000 seat; an improvement, but not great.
Corbin; wonderful!! I did a 12 hour day on it last fall and could have kept going. Was a little surprised, I've had Corbins on other bikes and they weren't this good.

Had a Russell on my Concours, it was excellent.

The gel seat from suzuki looks like it might be a good option, if I hadn't gotten a good deal on the Corbin I'd have tried one.

Best seat I've ever owned is my Russell Day-Long. Can do 500 miles without any problems. But not cheap at $770 for all leather.

The gel seat has trouble with weather extremes in that it holds heat and cold a long time. A sheepskin pad is a common accessory.
