With dirt bike helmets no face shields can be used (you use goggles). In rain and cold weather you suffer. In the dirt, they are great in warm weather at slower speeds, I actually find them no hotter than an open face. On the street, they are very noisey at highway speeds, though when it gets in the 90's the air is nice. So in hot weather, for a street ride of no more than 2 hours at a speed of under 60 MPH, I might wear a dirt bike helmet, any other time I wear a sport bike style full face. Dirt bike riding in warm weather, a dirt helmet is the way to go.
