Saddle Bags Information

Hi,
I am the lstest to join the V-Strom group......I have bought a new V-Strom1000 2005....and I need to put Saddle bags on them....when i asked the dealer about the saddle bags...he bought a latest suzuki acce. book on which there was no saddle bags for the strom...but the 04 model did have saddle bags...and they cost 600$ for the bags(3set) and 175$ for the brackets.....
well even if they have the saddle bags the whole setup is going to cost 775$...i would very much appreciate if there is anyone who can give me information regarding the saddle bags which can be of lesser value than the suzuki ones.....
And I would like to thank all of you guys...because your feedback did help me a lot on deciding V-Strom to be my mate.....i look forward to you guys to help me out on this one....
thank you all

You might take a look at twistedthrottle.com. There are lots of choices for bags and mounts. I'm trying to decide on some bags, myself. Right now, I'm leaning toward the Givi E360s because they can be mounted as side bags for long trips or a top bag for commuting. My garage is pretty cramped and I don't really want side bags sticking out all the time.

If you go to twisted throttle and add up the cost of just the Givi bags and the mounting hardware. Then the Key set so all 3 locks are the same. You are already at over $820 without shipping. I found my Suzuki Bags on ebay for $447.00 including shipping, all keyed the same with 6 keys, new from Oneida Suzuki (oneidasuzuki is there ebay name). I used the Givi Mounting hardware already on my bike when I purchased it used. The color is a perfect match too.

Since I'm pretty sure that Suzuki bags are made by Givi, $419 is a great deal! I'm in a process of trying to figure out what to use as a top case. Been looking at Givi V46 trunk. It seems to be the most popular trunk for the V-Strom. Does anyone have an opinion on this trunk?

The V46 works great, I use mine everyday and have the 41 sidecases for trips. Kappa is made by Givi I blieve but slightly lower quality and no longer is the Suzuki supplier. The Givi combo bags are to me definitely worth the extra bucks. The have a combination lock that opens the top of the sidebags without having to open the whole bag. This is very handy for taking things out when you're on the road. I never open the full bag, crap can falll out but having the lid makes it easy to pull out a jacket or whatever. Matches the silver 04 perfectly.
