:?: I've seen pictures of a DL650 with hand guards that look like the stock guards on the DL1000. The local dealer says they are not a Suzuki item. Has anyone adapted the 1000 guard to work on the 650?
If not what else? Any ideas, or recommendations would be appreciated
Original Suzuki 650 guards are what you are looking for. They look just like DL1000 itsems but are designed for 650; the difference is that since DL1000 uses hydraulic operated clutch, the left-side handguard has different design. Obviously your local dealer doesn't know what he's talking about. Part no. in Suzuki Europe is 57300-27820-291; hope this helps.
Sorry, don't have a picture (well a bit can be seen at http://www.heikkil.com/strom/hepcot.jpg) - you just have to take my word for it... I have them in my DL650 and they are great for weather protection; for off-road use maybe not as sturdy as e.g. Acerbis guards.
I just put the generic UFO brand brush guards on mine. All I had to do was cut out a small piece for the clutch switch on the underside. (Note: it does not attach to the bar end and does nothing to protect the levers)
