Dash Shelf?

Before I go spending mucho time futzing about with cardboard templates, sheet metal breaks and such, does anyone know of an accessory dash shelf that's already available for the V Strom? I have a Buck Sport Touring shelf on my Concours and it's a great place for mounting GPS, radar detector, thermometer, XM radio, etc. I realize the DL has less available space behind the windshield but it'd still be helpful. TIA

Tim

Not that I know of, but you could try www.twistedthrottle.com

They seem to have the most Strom-specific accessories.

I ordered one today from radarbusters.com (60.00). They come in six colors or chrome. order number 10991. Hopefully I will keep my license with my radar/jammer upgrade.

I'll bet this is exactly what you want, custom-tailored for the pre-adjustable-windshield V-Strom, for 25 bucks. See:

Thanks guys. I should've mentioned in my previous post that I have a 650. I want something like what the Pat Walsh site sells and I've been in email contact with them. I've been told that they are considering making a shelf for the 650's. For $25, I can wait for this product instead of having to buy Band-Aids in bulk like the last time I tried sheet metal fabrication.

A guy named Ray Fagan in Alabama has fabricated a nice shelf got the 650 [might also work on the 1000] whcih bolts right up with existing hardware.

You can contact him through the Yahoo 650 list.

I think it's about $60 but well made and nicely finished.

Personally having done it on other bikes I wouldn't even try speakers.

They never work well about about 50 mph. In helmet speakers are much clearer.

Under the seat might be a good place for a radio if you had a remote control.

I have the Pat Walsh Designs unit. I plan on installing it this weekend along with the guards. From the box, it looks great.
