1) Windows. Ideally, a Windows laptop. Otherwise, you'll either need to break down your computer and set it up in the garage, bring the bike into the house, or get a REALLY REALLY long USB cable.
2) The map files are in a .map format that the PCIII software uses. Basically, it's a spreadsheet. The PCIII comes with it's own software to hook into the unit and upload/download changes. You can change, save, modify any and all maps.
3) Yes, the shop will essentially build you a custom map for your bike. You can then go home, hook it up to your computer, and save it, back it up, share it, whatever you want in the PCIII software. You should also get a before and after dyno-graph with your torque and HP curves.
