Question Givi Top Rack Instalation

I was about to install a givi top rack that i recently bought when i realized i have to take off the rubber mat on top of the factory rack. Is there a way to take this off without cutting the rubber "nipples" on the bottom side of the rack?

I'd like to preserve the thing if i could. It could be useful if I ever decide to sell the bike.

thanks

I have the JWhitney knock off from eBay and installed without removing - I think the installation and brackets are the same... If you search the site for top case installations there's a lot of info/directions/photos posted here.

I sprayed diluted dish soap all over the place to wet things and, hopefully, give some lubrication. I also applied my pull as close to the nipples as possible. Worked well.

It also helps to push with a dull pointed instument from the bottom. Push the outside of the mushroom into the stem area.

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. I didn't quite make it to 17,000 miles on the 2012 DL650A.
