Accessory light mounting bracket

Has anyone installed the SW-Motech Auxiliary Light Mount Kit on a 2012 or newer DL650? If so, are you happy with the finished result?
If not, are there any other pre-made mounting kits that anyone would recommend?

The SW-Motech ones look like pieces of the bracket would be sticking out in different directions after the lights are mounted. I am looking at installing a forward facing LED set and finding brackets is a lot more challenging than finding the lights.

Any pictures would be appreciated.

I have them and like them a lot.



I had some ADV Monster LED lights there originally but not crazy about the toughness or quality of them so I went with some Rigid Industries Dually D2 LED driving lights, they are very nice.

I only use my aux lights for night time driving when I'm out in the middle of nowhere and no oncoming traffic.

Thank you, that is a big help. Your pictures give a much better idea of the finished product than the ones from SW-Motech. I will be ordering a pair tonight.

I will be mounting the Trail-Tech 35MM LED kit on mine but I will have them on all the time mainly for folks to see me while commuting. I also like the option of choosing three power levels since I will normally keep them on low, but can crank them up when needed.

"See me" lights are better mounted low, away from the headlights or the result is basically a small area of light, making it hard to judge speed and distance. High mounted auxiliary lights are better for the rider's vision of upcoming objects.

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. I didn't quite make it to 17,000 miles on the 2012 DL650A.

I agree with da Wolf.

If I wanted be-seen lights, I'd get some white hyperlites and put them on the low outer fairing or make them low fork-mounted lights.

When I fitted my aux lamps I thought about fitting them higher but when they are switched on the LEDs are so bright that they masked the indicator lights so it was hard to see if one was flashing.

I personally think they look better mounted high but practically they are better lower down.

If I am using my turn signals, I am in town not the boonies. If I am in town, I'm not using my Aux lighting because there is enough ambient light they are not needed. So it's one or the other, No problems...
