Fuel Injector Cleaner ????

Folks
I was getting around 50mpg, then suddenly I dumped down to about 41 and can't figure out why. everything runs well, and I am not doing anything diff gas-wise or right-hand-wise or terrain-wise. So I think I'll run some strong Fuel Injector cleaner for a tank and see what happens afterward.

Any suggestions on which chem to use, and how concentrated?

Have you checked the air filter?

It's more fun to ride a slow bike fast than to ride a fast bike slow.

yep. first thing I did, and pulled the plug to check. color looks fine, and the filter was average.. just dry dust and the odd bug. I cleaned it out and put back in.... it was new about 1500 miles ago. whilst there I pulled the boot off. made no difference whatsoever. 41mpg.

I'm having the same problem at the moment. Before I was getting 52-55mpg, and now I'm getting between 41-44. I think that we might still be on winter gas (??) and I've been filling up at different pumps, and each one fills to a different level. The bike runs great, but I want my gas mileage back! I've checked to make sure nothing is dragging, brakes or etc and all appears to be well. The bike was running 50+mpg around 15k miles, and now I've just passed 16k. Oil, filter, and plugs all appear to be just fine. All are new within the past 1500 miles.

Would a throttle body sync cause this? (I'm paranoid and can't check it at the moment).

What kind of trouble could cause such a large drop in mileage?

Thanks!
Eric

nawwwww...
TBS is overrated.
when you sync TB's, there are a lot of variables:
- how warm/hot is the engine?
- while warming is it sitting still or moving? there's a diff in the heat of the rear versus front cyl, and it affects the vaccuum reading
- is the rear cyl OVERheated???? gotta hit the seam
- check at idle, at 4000rpm, at 60000 rpm?????
- make sure the tubes are equal length and take time to tap the air out of the manometer.
- make sure you don't just sync at one rpm setting [see above]

get the picture?

Wow, all that? Who knew! I bet you are putting more thought into it than anyone else here. Just plug your tubes on and do it.

Not sure I agree with you on that! You are the one who is creating all the variables. I just did a TBS adjustment for a member last weekend, try to convince him that "your" variables had a negative effect.

I am not sure why you guys are getting the sudden drop in mileage. How hot has it been, I see you guys live out West. My mileage honestly doesn't fluctuate much, guess I am lucky.

mileage

I don't know where all of you are but here in Kentucky we change to a winter blend which makes EVERYTHING suffer. If I've been riding all winter I will see a change come about sometime in April...maybe you suffer from the same!
