Going to get mine today...hopefully

OK so I have been riding a 05 KLR (to Alaska twice on it) and have decided a new to me V-Strom will make the next rip even better.

My dad and I ride to AK every couple years (so far twice) we both did this on KLRs. Basicaly the KLR was the cheap way into it....Obviously we like it as we have done it twice... So I started researching bike to make the trip easier on us. What I found you all already know...the V-Strom is probably the best motorcycle for the way we ride...So the search was on....Not really but you get the idea...

I had been looking at the '12 ADV....Dad in the meantime bought one....

But my local dealership called me a few days ago and said they had a used 05 with 11k on the clock...Got a bunch of farkles already...most of which I'd have to do anyway.... Price is good and if I can trade in my KLR it may buy it today...

While I was wanting the '12 the '05 for the price is super nice... And it will save me a ton of cash....So as long as all goes well today I'll be riding her home in a few hours.

I got her!!!

Looks like a new one and rides like it too... And has a lot of farkling done which is good as I don't have to do it and bad in that I don't have to do it...lol ...seriously most is done for me...SW Motech Crash bars, Cee Baily Windshield, Center stand, Rear luggage racks, Givi top box base, Scorpion pipe (wouldn't have change it myself but it does sound sweet)

Before riding home

Sweet, it's in nice shape... Is that the weather in Ohio? Can't be... I am a just few hundred kms north of you and it might as well be the north pole... Lot's of the white stuff. I bought my 2012 back in Mid December and I still haven't even ridden it yet... Sitting in the garage with 1 km still on the clock... sigh...

Yep that's here near Cincinnati. Weird weather this year but I'll take it. I got to ride in Jan. too...it was 45-50 today...not a bad temp.. I rode it home. I'll keep it at work like my other one. Supposed to be above freezing in the morning but not by much...

Hit some twisties on the way home.....very impressed!

Good Luck

Inspect the battery and change if you believe it is from 2005

I would think that at 11 K its probably on its 2nd/3rd set of tires

Good thought on the battery. I replaced the battery on my 05 KLR last year...I'll look this one over... Hopefully it is ok.
