$9k OTD fair price for 2012 DL650?

Hey Guys,
Long time lurker here. This is a great forum and it's what helped me to decide to want to bite the bullet on a DL650. I haven't checked with many dealers yet, but so far the best price I've gotten is $9k out the door. If I want to buy now, new is my only option is new as I don't have a lot of cash up front for a good used one with ABS (which seem to very hard to find used!).

Is 9k close to a good deal or should I just wait till next year?

Thanks!

From what I read here, others are finding them as low as $8400 OTD.........???? But it may depend on location.........location.........location!!

I agree with location. I heard of a 2012 Adventure leaving down here for $9800 OTD but not much about any non-adventures leaving for much less than $9k. So your deal seems ok to me. If you can afford it, I do not think you are getting taken advantage of at that price. Again, just my opinion.

FWIW

Can't compare out-the-door prices in different areas. What is the price before your state & local sales tax, your state's license fee, and any other required charges? Is the dealer asking full list price, or something higher, and are they adding bogus charges like advertising and document preparation? If you're financing with a low down payment, did you buy gap insurance from the dealer (usually at high cost) or from your insurance agent (often lower cost) or none at all (reconsider).

$7550 was the list on mine. If you count the extras I was out for $9200 which was a tire/wheel protection plan, gap protection, and a service package. I just think 9k OTD is a bit steep! That is basically paying full MSRP. Granted prices are different for different areas bit I would try a bit harder to get a better deal....

Thanks for all the excellent replies! 9k OTD is steep for me personally too at the moment specially since that doesn't include any extras at all. I'll see if I can shop around a bit.

As a side note, I was thinking how this forum really is a added value to Vee owners .
