Would you

Hi All,
Looking at a 2003 V with 84000 miles.
Has some decent upgrades ( Shock, springs, power commander etc)
would you go for it of would you hold out for one with less mileage.
Thanks for the knowledge that I am sure you all hold.

Price is the key

Depends on price and if the clutch as been modded. If set up right it will ride as good as a new one. only draw back I could see is that there aren't many options for windshield and no adjustability. would not even consider it without a good test ride at highway speeds. If it doesn't slap your helmet silly then it may be a good buy.

03' yellow dl1000 Rich's seat, custom built racks with ortieb drybags
givi crash bars, powercommander,mm spacers,SV slipper clutch
43t sprocket, speedohealer custom 04'+MpDesigns/madstad windscreen

Personally, I'm leaning towards waiting. However, you haven't posted the price yet or what you intend to do with it so we're really just guessing here.

My thought would be that if you're just going to run around locally and if you can buy it uber cheap. AND if it checks out motorwise it might be worth buying.
They're solid motors but they're just machines with lots of parts and miles is what eventually kills them along with other niggles like switches, various bearings and such.
I would not think it would be my first choice as a long distance bike with those miles.

What is the Price, good V Stroms are hard to find up here, I did see one on the Forum the other day though....

don't let the mileage scare you too much... these bikes are very durable and reliable

Garage
I have 76,000 miles on my bike. I wouldn't hesitate to take it cross country. Of course I know it has been well maintained. A couple of Vees are now well over 200,000 miles. If it isn't burning oil around town and the bearings aren't rumbling, I wouldn't be concerned.

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. I didn't quite make it to 17,000 miles on the 2012 DL650A.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 DL1000s. Vee2=2014-2016 DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 DL650s. Glee = 2012-2016 DL650s
