2012 Adventure will dealer swap plastics?

All,

Just wanted to get some opinions. I have been looking really hard at the 2012 V-Strom adventure. I want to buy something that is pretty complete as far as accessories go. Here is the only problem. I saw the Fox Orange bike today at a bike show and thought it looked great. Do you think the dealer would swap plastics for me on an Wee Adventure? In other words take off the black plastic and swap it for Orange? My first thought is no, but you never can tell. Anyone ever try to get a dealer to do something like this? Thanks in advance.

Sean

You could try asking but first thought is NO! If you do find a dealer willing to accommodate you, do them a service and be sure you continue to support them after the purchase.

It's happened before on at least two occasions (pre-2010) that I can recall with the ABS and non-ABS bikes with orange being the preferred color. Naturally.

I think the Dealers wanted about $500 bucks for this generous accomodation. Naturally.

The MSO and title list the color. Because of that, I doubt you'll get them to do it.

Go hakafugu yourself.

I understand your preference for the Adventure, but I think it would be easier, cheaper, and more personal to "make your own" with aftermarket parts.

Jarhead ,not sure how it works in the states but here in canada the dealer orders up the bike in the colour you want and then adds the adventure package to it at assembly .. should not cost you a dime other than PDI charges if applied ... another option is to switch over the adventure package to your new orange bike ,this would be easier than swapping out plastics...Some dealers may help you out especially if they are not busy ..Good hunting ..

Sometimes making a wrong turn just makes the ride that much better ,,, go an extra mile it`s not so crowded there!

Why not just find a good paint shop and get your plastic painted - you could even personalize it a little.

Thanks guys. I decided on the Fox Orange and I will order the TRAX cases from twisted throttle. I am confident I have made the right choice as I have seen the bike in person several times now.

Here in the Land of the Free you get what you see.......most of the time and if there's no fine print or hidden costs or any other legal way to rip you off.

Test rode the 2012 black adventure model, no luggage or any farkles. So it was exactly like the Orange bike. Wanted to get the black one and dealer said not possible. The Black bike Vin is for the adventure model. Didn't want to argue with him.
