A little Advice?

Guys,

First, great place you have here, I've learned an awful lot sitting on my couch. Interested in the Wee, I think. I'm 6'2" 140lbs and have about a 34" inseam. I ride a Vulcan 500 and while the power and ride is OK, after about an hour I'm crippled. The strom with the upright ride and height looks good. Live in N FL and not looking to lay down 300 mile slab days, always ride solo, and would like to start some backroad FL trips. Think the 650 works? What say you all, the enlightened?

IMHO it would work great. However what works for me may not work for you.
Gotta local dealer that will let you go on an extended test ride?Rental?
Good luck.
P.S. I traded in my 1700 Vulcan for my Wee and am more than pleased.

My girlfriend has a Vulcan 500 and I log a lot of time on it because she's been too busy lately. Certainly a different riding position with your feet out in front, but it's a cruizer. I certainly like the riding position on the Wee better but everyone has their own likes/dislikes. Wee is great for most average dirt roads, not single trails. Good thing about the Wee there's hundreds of after-market products to customize it...seat, windscreen, luggage, crash bars, etc... (Speaking of crash bars, I just put some on my Wee, think I can find some for the Vulcan? Nope.) So based on the riding that I think you'll be doing, the Wee is the way to go.

You or a local upholsterer or a custom seat maker can raise the seat. Handlebar risers might be a good choice.

Man, you're a skinny little guy. I'm 6'2" as well, but I've got you by 45 lbs. Have you ridden a Wee yet? I jumped on both over the last couple months to see how they'd compare. The Vee is torquey as hell but the Wee is just so smooth. I didn't have any space issues with either, I don't think I'll be adjusting anything aside from possibly the controls.

I picked up a used 2007 DL650 in June and I love it. I ended up selling my CBR to buy it and I don't regret it. The Wee is a great all around bike and I doubt you will be disappointed. Good luck in whatever you decide.

I'm 6'-5" and I've got you by about 100 lbs. The strom is a comfy ride and it will get up and scoot. Coming from a Vulcan 500 you'll love it.

Ride every day, it's good for you.

I am 6'1 and find my 650 very comfy once I changed that awful seat. I'm using the dl1000 seat and for rides over 250 miles I put on a sheepskin pad. This past summer I rode it 6000 miles in 3 weeks and was fine with it. 14,000 miles thus far this year and no issues that need remediation.

The nice thing about the Strom is that you sit up high - you'll find your view at the same level as those guys in the pickup trucks and SUV's - a nice commanding view of the road, and all that lies ahead. And for a tall guy like yourself, you should be fine with your short inseam for seat-footpeg distance [may want to look into a DL1000 seat that's an inch or so taller].
