Hi everyone. I am attracted to this type of bike but have a few reservations that I'm hoping some of you experienced Vee & Wee owners can put to rest.
Hi! Hope we can help
(i) I'm concerned about the height of the Wee or Vee for a passenger getting on it. Is it a pain for a passenger to mount and dis-mount especially with panniers and a top box?
(ii) Is the top box an effective backrest? it looks somewhat flimsy.
(iii) given my height and inseam will the passenger feel that the bike is unsteady while mounting and dis-mounting?
(iv) is it a comfortable bike for a pillion? I'm leaning towards the 650.
I know I'm being overly focused on passenger comfort for a very occasional pillion, but I don't want to take this away from my wife, but I can't live with the bikes that make two up real comfy if ya know what I mean.
I'm hoping to benefit from your real world experience. Thanks folks!
(i) I have ridden two-up with my wife (5'11"), my step-daughter (5'9" and in her mid-twenties), my daughter (5'0" and ten years old) and my mom (5'7"). None of them have had any problems mounting or dismounting the bike, with or without the Pelican cases on my side-carriers.
(ii) That would probably depend on the top box you install, but I suspect any decent top box (Trax, Givi, Coocase, etc.) would be plenty sturdy.
(iii) As K1W1 said, with the sidestand down, it's rock solid.
(iv) That depends upon what you want to do and how far you want to go. I've carried passengers on short trips around town and the surrounding area, and my passengers have been happy. The pillion's got to be way more comfortable on the Wee than on my wife's S40 Boulevard. If you are going to spend a month touring the country, however, it's probably not the best choice :biggrinjester:
Anyway, taking time to find a bike that you AND your wife enjoy riding is a good thing. Best of luck in your search!
