Smile 07 V-strom 650 3k miles $4900 - good price?

found a used wee with 3,000 miles and no farkles (bad that it has no farkles, but good in that it may give me a blank slate to start with). It is the blue one & I hear that they are better / faster / add your own adjective).
Asking Price is $4900. Kelly Blue Book is $4585 but mileage is half what KBB lists as average (7055). A very Brief inspection shows it to be in good shape with no damage. I am Looking for opinions on whether this is a decent price. It is at the upper end of my financial self imposed limit at this point in time.
Thanks to all in the forum. I am learning a lot. I am interested in the wee Strom and the versys. I have read the comparisons and am leaning toward the Wee as I live in North Central PA which has a lot of unpaved forestry roads, which favors the Wee.

I recently bought my 07, but it has ABS and a few farkles. It had a center stand, hand guards, OEM heated grips, a power outlet and brand new tires. It had just a few thousand more miles on it. I paid 4900 for mine. If thats a stock, non-abs bike then 4900 seems a bit high to me but I am basing that off what I paid for mine.

A bit high, but not a bad place to start haggling. I bought my 07 nonABSWee in January of 09 with 500 miles with no farkles for $5,000 after much haggling time and it was off season.

Atlanta craigslist has an 07 with 175 miles and few farkles for 5,950 and a 2006 with several with 16000 miles and lots of farkles for 5,100.

BTW, I have the blue and it is indeed the fastest of the Weestroms. Remember as you get older, time gets more valuable cuz you have left of it. Also, if you are short on cash, go slowly with the farkles. The only regret I have is I should have gotten the crashbars earlier. (Don't ask)

Long story short: Do some haggling, buy the bike and you will have no regrets. I love this bike more every time I ride.

To me it's not bad with that low of miles. I mean sure I would offer 45.00 and go from there. but your getting a low mile bike. I would pay alittle more for 3000 mile bike .

I prefer to use NADA for realiastic pricing, NADA is based on actual sales, not wannaget prices like Kelly

fwiw, NADA puts the value at $3410-$4320

Sounds slightly high to me but not to bad. If you haggle a bit you can probably get it for a decent deal.

IMO, if it's at the higher end of your "financial self imposed limit" and you'd like to add farkles. I'd look for a bike that had farkles already even if it's 3-4 times the mileage this one has.

A lot of farkles could easily add 1/3 of what that bike costs. The difference in 3000 miles and 15,000 is not that big a deal and doesn't add much value. I'd hunt down a loaded wee and save a lot in parts, shipping and the time it takes to install all the crap.

Whatever you decide, good luck and welcome aboard.

Bought my 07 one one year ago. I paid $5000 with all the farkles listed in my signature. It had 6,000 miles on it.

Forget KBB or even NADA. What is the market saying? Check local Craigslist and even eBay. I also check local newspapers. What may be a fair price in one part of the country is not in another, so asking this group may not be too helpful unless someone close to you can give you recent sale information.

BTW, if that bike was in Portland, OR I think it would be gone by now.
