Since Suzuki doesn't make an off road Concourse.....

Every day - back and forth - DR650 or DL650? Drivin' me nuts. I can afford either - not both.

Test rode the Wee - 15 mi - all on road of course - good impression.
DL likes: lights - range - ergos - seat - COMFORT
DL dislikes: heavier - off road capability??????????? (not talking about single track - following billy goats) I mean,.........well,....some call it 2 track.

Test riding the DR this week.
DR likes: (consensus is) smaller - lighter - more nimble - no question about off road - can handle slab work.
DR dislikes: seat (already have an email in to Sargent and Russel) - may have to add bigger fuel tank and a few other upgrades - actually OK with all of that - will likely have to do some upgrades on the Wee too.

Both reliable. Will buy one or the other when the new Wee hits the floor. After all this - I guess it comes down to this: just how capable is the Wee off road? THERE - that oughta do it!!!!!!!

Any plans for serious off-road riding should have you looking at something other than the DL. It's meant for street riding with some unpaved road capability. You can make it work for off-road stuff, but then again you can pound a square peg into a round hole with a big enough hammer.

Thanks for the post.

Trust me - I understand and totally agree with you - hence the gnashing of teeth to find the bike that does the miles and the off road stuff really well. That bike doesn't exist - I know - no one's looked harder than me. So I gotta compromise somewhere.

The DR of course has limitations. So does the DL. It ALL depends on what we ask our bike to do.

If you get a chance - pls see my reply in the Wee section to see why the DL "might" be the best "compromise." Then again, if I can upgrade the DR to get some of the DL attributes..............????

Will be test riding the DR this week (with an open mind & lots of hope).
