Fair Price??

I am new to the Wee but not new to bikes. I have found a 2005 with Wa "Rebuilt Title", 15k, Givi Boxes, and heated grips. The bike looks OK for my purposes other than a couple of scrapes. I think I can buy it for about $3,300. Is this a fair price? I am not sure how much to discount the KBB retail for the Rebuilt Title. I am not concerned as to the mechanical condition as it runs fine. I believe it has original tires, chain and sprockets. Any comments would be welcomed. Thanks

wee strom price

I am also newbie to the v strom but i think with a rebuilt title and the miles, I think that you talk the seller down in to at least the high 2000's. I recently purchased a 2004 wee with 14k new tires and in very good condition for 3400.

With that mileage you'll most likely need to replace the tires chain and sprockets. Here in Fl a rebuilt title usually means the bike has been totaled
by the ins co. I'd look the bike over closely.
I agree with lmaso, $3300 is too high.

What non-mechanical damage could be expensive enough for the insurance company to total the bike? There isn't that much plastic on it. What else would add up to that much money? Plastic & tank, headlight assembly, windscreen, bars, wheels & tires, seat, what else?

The bike will sell for a discounted price when you decide to resell it as long as it has that title. If you buy it, you might keep looking for a good frame with a clear title and transfer your parts to that frame to sanitize the title and make some money.

I think trying to sell a rebuilt titled bike will be a chore unless it's priced accordingly, even at 3600 or if you get it at 3300 seems high for a rebuilt. Plus when you go to sell it it will be a chore for you. I would ask if, by chance, he had any pics of it crashed, but usually the people selling the bike have no idea of how bad it was crashed. Plus, add in the expense of tires, chain and sprocket, not to mention it's due to have it's valves checked and it's not too much lower then what you could find a used one for without a rebuilt title.

Up here in MN the market on 05 Wee's with high 10k's to mid 20k's miles and a clean non-salvage title is from the mid three's to the low four's. I'd keep looking.

If you want some references of bikes here for sale, let me know, you could do a fly-n-ride.

I'd shy away from the rebuilt title; even if it is professionally rebuilt, it normally means it's sustained substantial damage at one time.
