New 1000

I've been lurking on this site for quite sometime and today picked up a new to me DL1000. This bike looks brand new and has a little over 1500 miles on the clock. I can't wait to start with the farkles.

Does anyone know of a good audio system for this bike? I'm looking for something in Am/Fm radio, fairly simple, handlebar mounted with either external speakers or helmet speakers.. Thanks.... David

Congratulations on your new bike!

I can't be much help with am/fm radio but I use a Cardo Scala rider Q2 with my GPS and cell phone and it has built in FM radio. Also, it can be connected to a MP3 player but I haven't used that feature yet.

I'm sure others can point you in the right direction.

Welcome to another Atlanta based stromer. We really do need to have a local V-Strom meet up soon.

1500 miles and it looks brand new? That's less than a weeks worth of mileage...that is brand new. Congratulation and welcome to the best bike you've ever owned.

Just went for my first ride, a 55 mile loop near my house and all I can say is wow, the bike is all I expected it to be. I had a little turbulance issue and came home and lowered the windshield to the lowest position and went out for another quick ride and it seems to be much better.

I've never ridden a Wee Strom but the 1000 felt very light and flickable. I'm comparing this to a 07 St1300 I had. The power feels about the same as the St as the St is about 200 Lbs. heavier. Also had a 08 Buell Uly I sold about 6 months ago. The Vee feels more powerful than the Uly, that surprised me. The Vee seems to rev quicker than the Uly and the low end torque is a bit stronger. Here's a few pics...

DirtDad is right, it is new.

Great looking bike!
... and I might add the '06 DL1000 GRAY is the fastest color!

My love affair with the Vee took time to develop. If you're already feeling this way the love bug is going to bite you hard. This bike only gets better with time.

I own and regularly ride both. Hands down they are the best two bikes I've ever owned..period. Don't worry about missing some level of flickability with the Vee. Given a choice of bikes for the twisties I will always pick the Vee. I'm addicted to the adrenaline rush the Vee will give you exiting a corner. The Wee is no slouch, but the enjoyment comes from something other than hammering the throttle.

Congrats again. You've done a very nice thing for yourself.
