Question Questions on OEM parts

Hi all, I am in the process of buying a 650ABS and was talking
to the local dealer about OEM heated grips and hand guards.

The dealer pricing was way higher than an internet price and I
questioned him about that.

Turns out once we both looked at the internet items they are
not listed as being 650 parts but 1000 parts.

Example:

Suzuki Heated Grip Set Internet price $119.96

Suzuki dealer pricing $294.95 MSRP he says his dealer cost is around $200

Suzuki Hand Guard Set Internet price $39.96

Suzuki dealer pricing $59.95 MSRP his cost around $40

My question is has anyone or does anyone know if these 1000 parts
will work on a 650?

I know that the 1000 comes with hand guards, do the same ones work
on a 650?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Chuck

They work perfectly fine on both models.

The heated grips fit both bikes. The hand guard kit is for the 650 only. The 1000 does not need it as it comes stock with hand guards. The right side guards are the same but the parts on the left side are different.

I've got bad news for you on this one. You're looking at two different heated grip kits...and only one is actually available. The old OEM heated grip kit (57100-06860) could be had for ~$120. However, this part number has been superceded and is no longer available from Suzuki. I'd be willing to bet that if you tried to order the $120 kit from that website they'd contact you to say it was unavailable. The new heated grip kit (57100-06871) is what you're dealer is seeing and is over $200.

Neither OEM heated grip kit is worth the money, aftermarket grip kits are much cheaper and in many cases superior to the OEM offering. I've been using the Oxford heaterz on my Vee for the past two years. Less than $50 off ebay and no problems.

I'll agree after market heated grip products are superior.
