Thinking about selling my Concours for V Strom

I loved my Klr650's on off road capabilities but needed something more street oriented so I got a 1995 Kawasaki Concours 1000. Between reading the reviews on this website and advrider.com Im stuck in a rut here. Should I sell the Connie and get a v strom and join the team? Will I miss the 1000cc's or will the dl650 work fine?

I dont know what bike to get, people with the wee strom claim its the best bike as do the people with the V Strom. Or I hear the wee has more flickability but my 600 pound Concours seems very "flickable" too me, I dont know what to believe

I owned a 97 connie before my 1st dl1000. It was a -very- good move. Better power to weight and fun.

Go get one.

Not to bash the Connie, but I owned a 2000 Connie. Bought Brand new sold exactly 1 year later for a 3000 loss. That is how much I disliked it. I went to an ST1100 from there and loved the hell out of the two I had.

This year, I sold the ST1100 for a DL650. I've not once missed the liter bike. Well ok on the highway trying to pass some trucks up hill fully loaded, I had to down shift with the Wee Strom

I think the Wee is more stable on the highway then the Connie. You may miss the Connie on long highway runs, but the 650 doesn't lack in that area.

Well, I sold my 02 BMW LT and bought a Wee. I've had full sized touring bikes for several years. I wanted to try something smaller and more dual sportish. So far I've really enjoyed this bike. With the right farkles, it can be a hell of a sport touring/manly adventuring kinda bike.

Honestly, if I was going to take a month long ride around the country, I might have to have something more comfortable. Like a 2010 BMW RT or any of the fantastic sport touring bikes from Japan.

My Weestrom was 6725.00 out the door, now all I need is a long distance seat and a good cruise control to turn it into a LD ride.

This is the real draw for the 650. Cheap fun and quite capable. Don't worry, the 650 has plenty of omph..

BTW, if you get one, spend a few extra $$ and get the ABS.

Thanks for the info, Im leaning more on the Dl1000 as I do long distance highway and very light off roading, we'll see, I know if I sell my connie I will get nothing for it, maybe 2 grand.

I got off an 1150gs beemer on to the 650 wee.

No problem regarding power from the wee.

Panniers and top box loaded with 35kg of gear for two weeks on the road.

Travelling at around 70mph (120kph) and easily capable of lifting it's skirts and blasting past B Doubles (equivalent of your tractor/trailer rigs but with two trailers attached I believe).

These things will do L/D highway at fast speeds with no probs.

I found I didn't need 1000cc + bike after all :-D less than 0.5 of a second difference 0 to 65mph between the beemer and the wee, just a whisker over 4 seconds 0 to 65mph is good enough for me.

Try one, you will be surprised.
