Used 650 with two types of paint

I am looking at a 2007 DL650 with 13,000 mi. I have ridden the bike and it rides great. No bags but it does have heated grips. The tank and front fairing are flat black but the trim pieces under the back part of the seat are glossy black. Might that be an indication of something? They are asking $5,000.00 for the bike.

I don't think that the U.S. version of the DL-650 came in Flat Black.......could be a rattle-can job to cover something up.

2007 model (K7) DL 650 for the US came in blue or grey. ABS was available only in grey. Flat black tank and fairings with shiny black frame covers would be non-standard. Not necessarily cause for alarm; previous owner may have just wanted a different color scheme. Better to find out the story behind it. And I think the price should be adjusted downward to compensate for probable decreased resale in the future. Like around $500-750 less.

Could it be an 08?

I have an 08 flat black and the trim pieces under the seat, where the stickers say DL650 are gloss black.

Ae you shure it's a K7 and not a K8?

I will check that. It was advertised as a 08 but the tag on it said 07 and I forgot to ask the salesman about the difference. Intend to call him tomorrow. I think I just saw an 08 in Greenville, SC for sale that has a matte black with a glossy black frame trim piece so maybe it is actually an 08. Thanks guys, always appreciate the input.

Just because it was actually manufactured in 2007 doesn't mean that it isn't a 2008 model. Model years seldom follow the calendar year. The fact that the flat black Wees are not all flat black has always bothered me. They would look much better without the gloss black portions, but Suzuki cheaped out and left those parts glossy like on all the other colors. Even worse was the several years when Suzuki used gloss black rear panels regardless of the main color of the bike.

If it is an '08 at a dealership with those kind of miles, that's a pretty good price. Even without any extras. Check for ABS and you may have found a real winner!

Our '08 flat black ABS Wee has gloss plastic rear side panels and around the headlight. If you look at it very closely in the sunlight it actually has a gloss black and blue speckled finish. It was very cool when I first spotted it after owning the bike for a year. Like a hidden bonus. I only noticed it around the headlights this past weekend (16 months of ownership). I like it.
