ABS on the Stroms??

I believe I'm another one of the, after 4 BMW's, I'm tired of the reliability issues guy. I have ridden a 650 strom, and enjoyed it, but I sure am used to the torque of the big twins ( r1150's of different types), which the wee didn't have. I am also a big believer in ABS, so does the 1000 offer ABS or only the 650? My riding is 95 % in the Appalachian mountains, even though I live in FL. I do tour up there, so bags are a must. Any and all comments, suggestions, advice will be greatly appreciated!! P.S. I'm an average size guy, 5'10'' , 170 lbs.

The 650 is more than capable of touring. There's all sorts of postings on hard bags and other touring farkles.

Most of the moto jounalists and Vstrom converts agree, the 650 is a hell of a bargain. There's a great post here from a guy and his wife that toured out west from NC. They have hard bags and and hard tour trunk on their 650. It took them 2up, there and back.

Great read, look it up.

The ABS feature is a must for any bike I own.

I went from a 08 KLR to a 08 Wee ABS.
I seriously considered the Vee, but no ABS...a deal breaker for me.
I love the ABS and am more than satisfied with the power of the 650.
I know I could no restrain myself on the 1000, so hopefully will live longer on the 650. If I was doing big slab, big speed and lots of two up I think that the Vee would be better, but other than that, the Wee ABS is a gem.

Even if you don't get a Wee (big mistake!), be sure to acquire an ABS bike - I won't ride another one without it. The next major consideration for reliability, performance and ownership economy - buy a Wee!
