Mileage too high?

I am looking to make the leap from the cruiser world into the V-World. While I am in the process of selling my bike, I am scouting out several Vstroms for sale. One that I am looking at is a 2003 Vee with 26k miles. My question is this; is this too many miles when looking to buy a used VStrom? I know there are all kinds of variables that will factor into this, such as how was the bike maintained while ridden for the 26k miles, regardless of the miles what shape is the bike in, my price range, etc. I guess a more refined question would be, if you were looking to buy a used Vee, would seeing that it had 26k miles be an immediate turn-off and deal-killer for you? If so, what would be your miles limit when looking at a used Vee?

Thanks for the help. This forum is incredible! Peace.

No, not at all. That guy is a lightweight. My '05 has 33k on it.

The V engine is kind of bulletproof. You will easily find people here with mileage more than that. Having said that, if you wait a little more and want/can travel, you will find Vees with much lower mileage also. There are a few for sale in the the "For Sale" section right now.

High mileage???? That bike's barely been ridden. Hell, my 2008 Vee has 18k on it now and will be pushing 40k by this time next year.

These bikes (650 or 1000) will do over 100k miles easily with minimal fuss.

Wow, sounds unanimous so far. That is really good to hear as this bike is much more in my price range and not too far from home. I might even have enough $$ to add a farkle or five! I know I plan to put some miles on her too. Thanks for the great input and SO fast.

Can't wait to be able to post some pics of MY Vstrom!

My Wee has close to 35,000 miles on it, and I'm planning on keeping for years at this point. Just tires, chain, sprockets, plugs, filters, and fluid changes is all it has ever needed.

Don't listen to'em. That damn thing bout's ready to blow apart on ya. It was never meant to gp more than 36K in a life time. So where is it and how much do they want?

I often lose control. I really I hate my life.

Xavier,

The bike is located in Arlen, the guy selling it is John Smith and his number is 555-867-5309. Hope you don't beat me to it!
