What to look for in a used V-Strom (650)

Hi All,

I am looking to add a V-Strom to our stable and would like some input on a used purchase. As you can see I am a KLR650 rider to date and know of all the questions to ask and things to look for on a used KLR. Would some of you experienced souls be kind enough to either point me in the direction of some resources or provide some of your own experience?

Thanks!

Hope that helps,
Tim

I too am looking at adding a 650 V-strom to my stable.
Currently riding a 2008 Bandit 1250 with factory bags so I have my long distance high speed mount.
Now I want something light, easy on fuel and able to do highway and the back roads in the mountains in my area.
Any tips on what to look for problem-wise would be much appreciated. All machines have their lemons.

Look at the usual things. Wear parts and for abuse. All in all, these bikes, the WEE and VEE, really don't have a specific problem area any more. The early ones had a few issues but even these were easly solved. If you have been around bikes for a while you know what to look for.

No longer riding due to injuries on June 9 2012.
