How Fast Will the Wee Cruise Comfortably?

I have a Honda Shadow 600, thinking about getting a Wee.

The Honda is great on fuel (60 MPG), but I'd like something that goes just a bit faster to keep up with the freeway traffic. The Honda will go faster, but 75MPH is about the max that is "comfortable" cruising. It will cruise at 80 or 85, but I can tell that it really doesn't want to go that fast. Top speed is probably 95 or just slightly more. I doubt it will break 100.

How fast will a Wee cruise comfortably?

What is the approximate top speed?

All around and freeway fuel economy experiences?

BTW, I'm not a speed demon, but if the traffic is going 85, it is safer if I keep up.

Thanks.

I had the Shadow Spirit 750 and they are no comparison to the Strom. The 650 will outrun a shadow like it is a scooter. Don't compare 600 to 650 here. It does not apply.
The Wee will cruise anywhere you want under 100 all day long. It will go faster, probably 125 or so depending on your gearing. Any speed is much easier on the Wee than a Shadow.
Try one, you will not be dissappointed.

FARKLE your Strom with ORIGINAL HEADLIGHT MASKS, frame guards, triple-clamp guards, fork guards and tank guards. Check them out in the link below. Thanks, Devin.

Thanks, I'm Not A Speed Demon

"Anything under 100" is fine with me. I just want to keep up with traffic. And it looks like the Wee will get similar gas mileage.

I'm very well aware that one can't compare CC's directly. I owned a 2006 Katana 600 briefly, which I bought in Atlanta new for $4K (overstock).

Let's just say that I have reason to believe that the Katana would outrun my Shadow. : )

DT, I bought a shadow 600 adn my wee at the same time, the shadow mainly for my wife, and I figured getting two different kind of bikes will let me see which I like best. Two years later the wee is pushing 40000 miles and the shadow was traded on a burgman w/ less than 500 miles. To awnser your question, my wee cruises between 90 and 110 very comfortably on my 32 mile slab commute.

I have an '06 that will do all that but the mpg suffers at 75+. The wife and I just got 44 mpg cruising 75 for 3 1/2 hours. The 1000 will probably compare favorably at the speeds you're suggesting. It's 65 mph (actual) and below where the 650 shines in mpg. The '07 and up do better in gas mileage tho.

Yeah, it'll cruise at 95 or so, but with the stock windsheild, you'll find yourself wanting to slow down to around 75 or 80. Which is fine by me... I don't like to cruise faster than that anyway.

Honestly, about as fast as you want it to and at least 10-15mph over what may be legal in the majority of states. I have never loaded the bike excessively nor gone two-up but speed has never been an issue thus far.

My wife has actually gone faster on her bike than I have for the most part.

I have a 35 mile one way freeway commute and have taken several long trips on the Wee. I have a 16T front sprocket and find the bike to be most comfy at 5500RPM which is 75MPH (actual). It just feels perfect there. She'll go faster but the mileage will plumet (I get right at 50 now at that speed).

+1 on the mileage comment

I have a 16T front sprocket and I ride with my Givi bags and Shad top case just about all the time. I also have a Givi windshield.
At an indicated 110 kph - which is probably closer to 100kph (63mph) actual -I can easilly get close to 375 klm out of a tank. But......with the 16T the bike is very comfortable between crruising along at an an 135kph - 140kph, which is probably a true 125kph or approx 78 mph. It just seems to want to lope along and keeping the speed down is tough since it's so smooth. But at 140 I'm pushing it to get 300 klm out of a tank. I'm more than willing to put up with the drop though, in return for the fun factor

I have a 17t front sprocket and cruise 85 mph (uncorrected) at around 5500 rpm. Cruising at 100 doesn't seem to be much work at all on the bike.... i just don't need to cruise at that speed. For this reason i think i'm going to try a 16t.
