2002 Aprilia Caponord ETV1000 vs DL 1000?

I've got an 02 Capo and am looking at an 06 DL1000. Does anyone have any comparisons? I'm a little fed up with the finicky ecu on the Capo. I'd like to just ride....not tune then ride, then tune some more and ride, then retune and ride...well you get my drift. The bike is awesome when in tune but it wont stay there. So...i digress. What is an 06 DL 1000 like?

The NEW DL1000 is miles ahead.

The older one, plusses and minuses. Stays in tune but has other issues like clutch shudder and the engine resembled a Russian tractor . I found both fairly barge-like WRT handling compared with the 650. The newer 1000 a lot more nimble and the engine is livelier.

The 06 DL, probably better than the Capo for staying in tune, reliability, parts and farkles, engine - well back to Russian tractor and I'm fairly sure the Capo in tune is better there.
I've ridden both, but the Capo a demo machine a long time back, didn't like it enough to buy one I'll put it like that.

Sorry, that's probably not what you want to hear, but probably accurate. (I Own a DL 650, so I can slag off both bikes without feeling guilty about it).

IF you can test ride the 06 1000 and it feels O.K. it'll probably stay like that for a long time. About the only long term issues are fuel pumps going due to bad fuel (fixable) and the occasional stator cooking itself.

Thanks for the reply. I passed on it. Turns out it had 146,000 miles on it. I'm not afraid of buying a high mileage bike, just not for the price he was asking. Maybe ill just spring for a brand new one. I've got three bikes and really just want to get down to one. That new Yamaha sure is appealing....
