The NEW DL1000 is miles ahead.
The older one, plusses and minuses. Stays in tune but has other issues like clutch shudder and the engine resembled a Russian tractor
. I found both fairly barge-like WRT handling compared with the 650. The newer 1000 a lot more nimble and the engine is livelier.
The 06 DL, probably better than the Capo for staying in tune, reliability, parts and farkles, engine - well back to Russian tractor and I'm fairly sure the Capo in tune is better there.
I've ridden both, but the Capo a demo machine a long time back, didn't like it enough to buy one I'll put it like that.
Sorry, that's probably not what you want to hear, but probably accurate. (I Own a DL 650, so I can slag off both bikes without feeling guilty about it).
IF you can test ride the 06 1000 and it feels O.K. it'll probably stay like that for a long time. About the only long term issues are fuel pumps going due to bad fuel (fixable) and the occasional stator cooking itself.
