"Help" Getting ready to pull the trigger

Took a friend to the dealership to look at scooters. I saw the V Strom 1000, and loved the look, style, comfort, etc...

So help me out...

I found new 07 models for $7700, or I can wait for the 08, and pay $8200.

So my questions:

650 -vs- 1000... Mostly a local commuter. I'm just concerned I will have wished I had purchased the 1000 after the fact.

Anything new with the 08 model worth spending the extra money?

How does the price listed above sound?

Other than storage, what are the "must/typical upgrades" I should consider?

Thanks for your time and input!

-Scotty

Scotty, don't take it personally that you got little response. The Wee v Vee thing is pretty well played out. Having owned both, I would get the Vee :-)

I think you'd appreciate a centerstand to service the chain and a better seat for starters.

Welcome!

The short answer is to ride both models. The DL650 outsells the 1000 for a number of reasons.

Most commuters would add hand grips (DL650), heated hand grips, Madstad bracket or new windshield, fork brace, center stand, and GPS.

Good choice. I have one and it's great.
Center stand and a top case are the only two indispensables for me.
You'll appreciate the ABS if you can find one.

Ride both and decide for yourself.

I moved up from an FJR 1300 to a DL650 and have lived happily ever after since.

No worries folks, I was not offended. After all, I did post before researching the forum like I should have.

Still liking the Wee. Just sold my Waverunner to make room for the new addition to the garage.

Centerstand will be a must, (Three bikes blew over in the parking lot at work yesterday), gotta love these Oklahoma winds!

dealership in town won't come off MSRP. Thirty minute drive saves $400. Two hour drive saves $600.00.

I suspect I will drive 30 Minutes to purchase.

When asking about the ABS. The response was laughter, and We hear Suzuki makes an ABS version...

Thanks for all the input.

Trigger pulled....

I pick up my 08 yellow Wee Monday (wanted black, but do like the yellow).

Waiting on center kickstand to be installed, should be done Monday.

I've ordered a new Helmet (Nolan flip up) and Manta tank bag.

Hey Scotty, good choice, thanks for your info about the shorts. I've added a few minor things to mine and it has really paid off. For $50 I added the JC Whitney top case, and its been awesome. Can't beat it for the money. My Arai (medium) helmet fits in it. You can do a lot of research on luggage on stromtrooper and come to your own conclusion. Just thought I'd add my $.02Good Luck

Silver K7 Wee

Madstad Bracket, painted Exhaust Shield(Krylon Fusion Satin Black), Super Brace
