Thinking of switching

Currently ride a 99 RT.

Looking for something lighter and easier to handle at low/no speed.

Have read a lot of posts on this forum.

Looking to buy a used 12 and up or a new leftover if cheap enough.

Willing to spend $ on necessary upgrades.

Seems like these are the common areas and if you have specific suggestions on them please let me know.

Suspension: Springs and other front suspension mods/upgrades.

Bar backs/ peg lowering

Sidecases/top box

Skid plate/engine guards

Aux lighting.

Sprocket changes

Any other things I should be thinking about.

6' 1" 225 Always ride solo. Camp a lot.

Rode to Nova Scotia from S. Il last year. Repeating that trip again this year as well as a trip to Billings for the MOA rally.

Put a center stand near the top of your list. Among other things, it makes lubing the chain easier.

I'd do some miles with the stock gearing before changing. I tried the 16T front and went back to the stock front sprocket. Once you get used to the engine revs, you realize how happily it cruises at 6k rpms.

Agree on riding the bike first and making up your own mind on whats needed... at least on things like the windshield, seat, gearing etc... Center stand though is something I agree is needed.

I love my '13. I got a used one that was fully loaded with basically everything one could want so I didn't have to do any of the farkling myself.

Good luck and welcome.
