Hello Stromger here.

Finally after 3 days i am able to get on here and pick your brains. I would like to give a shout out to Unstable Boy. I was having a hard time getting on this forum but was able to track him down thru his videos on you tube. Anyway i do not own a strom yet but i am going to go test ride one on 5/24/14. This bike will have the adventure package on it and it is a 2013 left over. The only think i am concerned with is i might think it will be under powered. Although i am 50 years young speed is not to much of a factor unless i am on the highway and just want to keep up with traffic. Any info would be helpful thank you Roger.

under powered? perhaps if you are used to a 1000cc inline 4.... if you are used to say a cruiser with an engine of 1700 or 1800 cc's...you are going to find the 1000 a whole lot faster...

of course you do not mention wee or vee in your post....

Welcome aboard!

I've got an '05 Wee and I've never found it underpowered, even when riding 2 up with my wife and/or on the interstate.

You are right sorry, most likely a wee because the bike is a little tall for me and I don't need the extra weight.

I am sure it will be a wee. Here is a little info on my last rides. I had a 2011 yamaha star stryker it has a 1300cc engine it was a great cruiser but i missed the leaning and traded that in for a 2014 yamaha FZ-09 and this is a fantastic 850cc bike with three ride modes. This is my current bike and i love it but i can not get comfortable on it. I had the seat redone twice and it got better but what i learned was the way i need the seat to be is like a cruiser and you can not do that to a sport bike. I was told because of the shape of the pan goes with the flow of the frame. So here i am looking at the wee. I heard from several people on how reliable the bike is and comfortable. My salesman told me of a guy who had bought one (wee) left NY for alaska then down the west coast and across to florida and back to NY. He only stopped to do regular maintenance and 1 flat tire the whole trip.

The DL650 will have nothing like the roll-on torque of your cruiser or the top end power of your FZ-09, that's not what it's intended for.
On the other hand if you're after a soft-road machine that will do anything a GS BMW will do for less than half the money, and none of the pretence, this might be the bike for you.

my 2013 has just enough power for fast mountain roads. I love it's top speed and frankly don't want to go any faster than 85 mph. Give me more Horsepower and I'll just abuse it. I can get in enough trouble with the 650.
