Vstrom 1000 '03 vs Vstrom '07

Hey everyone! In a couple of hours i will be checking out an '03 DL1000 with around 18000 km (11000 miles).
From my budget, use, and description of the bike, it will suit me very well. I am jumping from a CBF 500 that i rode for 9 years for almost 100.000 km (62000miles).

I have a couple of questions though. I have the possibility of getting an 03 for a great deal tomorrow (3000/$4150). However, i have been reading that the dl1000 got much better from the model '07 and up. The bike as been parked for about a year so i can expect an oil change and fuel change, besides a general check-up. Bike has a case and fairing protection.

Do you guys think, if the bike is is good condition, i am making a good deal? Should i be getting a more recent one? I passed on a DL1000 '05 with 34000km/22100miles for about 4000/$5530

Thank you for your help!

I don't think there is enough real difference between an '03 and an '05 or later to matter all that much. The windshield is the only really obvious difference and there are fixes for that just like the later models. If the money is right for you it sounds ok. I would be concerned about it sitting as much as it has. 11K miles isn't much. Find out the story on that.

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. I didn't quite make it to 17,000 miles on the 2012 DL650A.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 DL1000s. Vee2=2014-2016 DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 DL650s. Glee = 2012-2016 DL650s

So i ended up buying the '03. It was a fair deal for the price. I'm off to another topic to try and clarify a couple of things. I am much appreciated for your help guys.
