Why Didn't You Guys Tell Me?!!!
I got the Wee today.
I was gonna just take it home because the Sacramento weather was COLD today--and dismal clouds obscuring the sun whenever possible.
I took about ten laps around the little parking lot at the dealer just to see if I could learn to ride such a funny-looking machine.
Well, needless to say, that bike didn't go home for several hours. I headed straight for the mountains!
The snowflake came on and forced me to turn around when I was half-way up the Sierras and had a foot of snow alongside the road. (I wasn't cold; it was just the snowflake that made me do it.)
Why didn't you guys tell me about this bike. I've ridden a lot of bikes, but I've never been introduced to such as this one!
No, a super-go-getter it ain't. But what a fine machine!!!
I never been on top of a machine that handled everything-and I mean everything--as well as this one!!!
You guys told me you all thought it was a pretty good bike. But you never said the half of it. For an all-round performer, Suzuki sure hit the moon on this one!
I had been trying to figure out how I could hang onto my Vulcan, but after this ride, I'm almost ready to give that Vulcan away! (Almost! I still have to find a way to pay for the Wee, so I have to sell it. But I sure don't need a Vulcan if I can keep only one bike.)
Now it will take some adjustments to fit me.
* Handlebars need some rise and twist in them so my old-geezer elbows don't hurt so much.
* GOT to have some highway pegs!
* And I'm gonna have to do something about that seat.
But that little 650cc has torque too! Got stuck in 3rd at a signal with a bunch of cars waiting for me. I slipped the clutch just a bit, but that mini-Wee 650 pulled out of a dead stop in 3rd without missing a beat, and it did it nearly as fast as the cars were starting up. Serious torque for a tiny little runt of an engine.
And trying to break it in, keeping it under 5K, I got stuck in a clump of Toyotas and Chevys coming onto the freeway. From just under 4K, I hit the throttle (just to stay alive!) and in something like 2 or 3 seconds I was breaking out of that mess at 70mph. So don't let anybody tell you they ride on torque and we ride on revs. It ain't so--that takes torque to come up like that in 6th gear!
Nope! You guys failed me! You didn't tell me the half of what that little bike is all about.
But thanks for your half-way efforts anyway. You got me steered in the right direction.
PS: It's still ugly, but if I paint it flat black so that nobody notices it, I can ride it from here to breakfast--which is exactly what I'm gonna do. I like that ride, whether it stays metallic blue or whatever color!
