650 vs 1000

What's the difference at slow speeds in the way the 2 handle ??

I am looking at buying a use 650 or a 1000

My recent past bikes
R1200RT , 2 Honda Valks , ST 1300 Honda , R1100RT

I bought the 1200RT 3 weeks ago and already have it sold , it's not for me

Thanks in advance

I've ridden both and while I know on paper the 1k has it beat in power I really didn't notice much of a difference between the two.

At low speeds the heavier 1k handled just as good as my wee.

I know that some bikes are bad at slow speeds like the 1000 Concours , Goldwing , SDT1300 , they are designed for highway driving and when you come to a stop , it gets a little scary .

Why does one buy the wee over the Vee ??

I would say my own 650 runs poorly at slow speeds. The handling and balance are great but I have engine surge. My mechanic says everything is to spec, but the jerky ride that I and some others have is annoying.

A new chain and sprockets did not fix it, either did new plugs and a throttle body sync. He suggested running some Lucas injector cleaner through the gas, but I think it is an air leak around a boot or hose. I am not willing to book another $100 an hour appointment to have them scratch their heads...

For me it was weight and Gas mileage. The difference between the two wasn't enough or me to justify the extra weight and the extra gas I'd be expending to move it it around.

Edit to address above post- My 650 run smooth as glass.
